Elisabeth Scott Daley
Plans are being made to prepare for a national tour of “One Night of Broadway”!
Stay tuned for new updates!
The Williamsburg Lodge was host to seasoned performer, Steve Lippia who shared his talent with Williamsburg residents accompanied by Williamsburg Symphonia conducted by Janna Hymes, who brings an exuberant passion for music as evidenced in every sweep of her baton!
It was an amazing night featuring the music of the inimitable Frank Sinatra!!!! Mr. Lippia’s easy charm kept everyone entertained for hours!
Besides listening to his rich, amazing voice… I particularly enjoyed his amusing tales of the pitfalls of traveling for a living. We all bonded as he shared with us the “all too familiar” details of arriving at the luggage conveyer belt only to discover that your bags are nowhere in sight. And “by applause”, it was evident that everyone had had this happen to them.
If you long for the days of “proper” Big Band Singers of the Rat Pack Generation, Steve Lippia is the man to call. It was a fantastic night!
Elisabeth Scott Daley presented “Broadway on the James” for an encore performance to a sold out crowd at Two Rivers Country Club in Williamsburg, Virginia. Audience favorites included tunes from “The Sound of Music”, “Cats” and “Phantom of the Opera”.
Often we hear the DJ say in an very loud announcer voice……” LET’S MAKE SOME NOISE!!!!!!” or “GIVE IT UP FOR……..!!!!!!!” in order to tell the audience in the most obnoxious way ever…. that it is now time to CLAP!!
Randy made examples of live theatrical performances such as Broadway or a live Awards Show telecast and how the actors or the Host never have to ASK the audience for applause.
They finish the scene or finish the moment…..and the audience KNOWS it is time.
Don’t kid yourself! The audience is very smart.
Don’t TELL them what to do….. or when to do it.
Liz made the point by performing the last 30 seconds of “Cabaret” bringing about thunderous applause…..and Randy didn’t have to say, “ let’s give it up for Liiiiiiiizzzzz!!!”
